“One-of-a-kind” Game Changing The Perception Towards Muslims

LONDON - Islamic Relief created “One-of-a-kind” that is a game application that we can play as a character of aid worker, delivering live-saving projects,charity and the character of the all the aid workers in this game are Muslims.


The purpose of they created the Muslims aid workers is to change the perception towards Muslims that is Muslims are not the terrorist because in every game, Muslims always been portrayed as the villain or terrorist in movies and any category of games such as war and RPG.


Besides, people will having fun playing this game and learn about the charity and live-saving work, they also will could change their perception towards Muslims from bad to good. It was released in the Google Play Store and the application game is free to download.


According to Shahid Kamal Ahmad, managing director at Ultimatum Games, the game portrays the kindness, generosity and humanity of the Muslims faith and hopes that all the games can follow what he did.


“Having worked in the video games industry for 37 years, I can’t help but notice that, as with the media and pop culture, Muslims are generally presented in a negative light in videogames,” he said, in a statement shared with Global Citizen.


“Often, when you see characters from the Islamic faith in video games they are othered as terrorists or villains you have to kill," he continued. "It is as though there is no other way for a Muslim to be: you never see any peaceful, ordinary Muslims just going about their lives."


Islamic Relief also hopes that people know about the live-saving work and charity and the kindness of the Muslims.
