Nasheed or in Malay we called it as "Nasyid" is a vocal music work that is either acappella sung or accompanied by percussion instruments such as daf. Islamic anasheed usually does not include lamellaphone instruments, string instruments or wind and brass instruments, while digital remastering–either to mimic percussion instruments or to produce overtones–is not allowed as this is still a type of instrumentation and imitates actual instruments.
Nasheed is the popular genre music in Malaysia during 90s, the most popular nasheed groups during that time are In-Team, Hijjaz, Rabbani, Raihan, Saujana, Far East, UNIC, Mirwana and more. Parents during this time will buy the nasheed CD album for their children to listen it at home. Therefore, there are four popular rock albums of all time, which people still listen until now.
Puji-Pujian (Raihan)
"Puji-Pujian" is the debut album by Raihan in 1996. This album contains 10 songs, "Iman Mutiara" and "Sesungguhnya are the most famous and evergreen songs in Malaysia. This album produced by Farihin Abdul Fattah and it grossed sales of over 750,000 units in Malaysia alone, with 200,000 units sold within the first two months of its launch, and 3,500,000 units sold worldwide, making them the most successful Malaysian album sales artist.
Raihan Is a nasheed group of Malaysians originally composed of five members who became popular in Malaysia, original line-up of the group included as the chief Nazrey Johani, Che Amran Idris, Abu Bakar Md Yatim, Amran Ibrahim, and Azhari Ahmad.
In 1997, Queen Elizabeth II invited them to perform at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting where they also received an honorary letter from Prince Charles for their performance in Commonwealth in Concert. The next year, during her visit to Malaysia for the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, they were given an opportunity to meet the Queen.
Damai (Hijjaz)
"Damai" is the successful album by Hijjaz in 2004, this album contains 10 songs, "Berkorban Demi Cinta", "Penawar Racun Dunia" , and "Aku Hanya Umar" are the most popular songs in this album. This album grossed sales of over hundred thousand units in Malaysia.
Hijjaz is the nasheed group from Malaysia that established in 1997, before the establishment of this nasheed group, they joined one of the famous nasheed group during 80s that is NadaMurni. Hijjaz was active under their music company that is "Hijjaz Music Entertainment" and they produced a lot of nasheed groups such as In-Team, UNIC, Ae-man,Mestica.
In the early establishment, the nasheed consists four people, Mohd Munif bin Ahmad, Isman Nadim bin Isam, Mohd Faizal bin Osman, and Mohd Salleh bin Ramli. However, during 2001, Salleh passed away and he was replaced by new member who is Muhammad Ariffin bin Ahmad Rahim.
Kasih Kekasih (In-Team)
" Kasih Kekasih" is an album produced by In-Team Group in 2000. This album consists 13 songs and the album produced by Hijjaz Music Entertainment and the most famous songs in this album are "Kasih Kekasih" and "Akrab Persahabatan". During 90s, "Kasih Kekasih" is the most famous song among student of International Islamic University Malaysia and they were once banned from singing at any university because of the incompatibility of the song among students.
In-Team is the Malaysian nasheed group under Hijjaz Music Entertainment, this group presented nasyid songs in Malay, English and Arabic. The group is also a member of the UNIC, Aeman and Mestica groups under the same label. The group was formed in January 1998 when its original members began studying at the International Islamic University Matriculation Center Malaysia (UIAM).
Intifada (Rabbani)
"Intifada" is the album by Rabbani during 2000, it consists 10 songs and the most famous songs in this album are "Intifada , "Cahaya", and "Lailatul Qadar". The album which famous among the parents in Malaysia during 90s and 00s because they will buy the album and play the album in the DVD player for their children.
Initially debuted with 13 members on 1 March 1997, Rabbani was led by the vocalist Mohammed Asri Ibrahim. By the time of "Suara Takbir" in 2005 Rabbani released ten more albums. While criticized, Rabbani enjoyed greater success with Pergi Tak Kembali and Intifadha.
After the death of group leader and main vocalist Mohamed Asri Ibrahim due to a heart attack on 13 August 2009, the place was assumed by the other member, Zulkiflee, and with the release of the new album Mahabbah on 18 December 2009 they continued to promote as 8 members.
